Don't worry, warmer weather is just around the corner. And, it will be here before you know it. So, you better start planning your next visit to the White Mountains of NH!
Spring is a beautiful time of the year in New Hampshire. Wildflowers begin their annual bloom, the wildlife emerges from hibernation, and the sun starts shining. Fresh mountain air and the smell of freshly grown grass, a glass of wine on a veranda overlooking the mountains, and luxurious days spent at the spa are just a few of the best things to do up north in spring.
SPRING ACTIVITIES Guide: Lincoln Woodstock & White Mountains
The Lincoln Woodstock region is the base camp of the White Mountains. Centrally located between Loon Mountain and Franconia Notch, Lincoln-Woodstock is the place for visitors to relax during the mountains’ quiet season. Take a tram ride up a 4,000 foot mountain, climb the Loon Mountain Fire Tower to get a look at the mountains from above, and take a fishing rod out to the Pemi River.
OUTDOOR SPRING ACTIVITIES: HIKES & ADVENTURES
In the spring, people travel north from all over to witness the White Mountains’ beautiful waterfalls. Right after the melting snow, these cascades are most impressive! The trails leading out to these waterfalls are equally as impressive and accessible for most capabilities. Enjoy the trails before they get more crowded this upcoming summer and the temperatures start to climb.
INDOOR SPRING ACTIVITIES: RECHARGE & REFUEL
Year-round, the White Mountains provide unlimited activities. The activities will be there in the spring, but this season is mostly about recharging and reflecting. It can be easy to get caught up in trying to do everything on the checklist during your vacation. While you visit this spring, think about really soaking it all in. Relax and enjoy the natural beauty these mountains can offer you. Spend the day rejuvenating your body and mind at the spa, read that book you haven’t had the time to read, and learn a new hobby while you’re here!
Family Friendly Spring Activities
Spring is a wonderful time in the White Mountains for family trips. Visit Jean's Playhouse for a family friendly, theatrical experience! Venture into the woods on one of the many beautiful hiking trails or walk along some paved paths. Paint pottery at Fired on the Mountain, or in May visit the nearby amusement parks like Clark's Trading Post, a family favorite for all generations.
Not only is spring a great time for family getaways, but it is also a couples’ getaway destination! Enjoy the romance of the budding wildflowers and the taste of locally made wine. Go out for a high class dinner experience on the Cafe Lafayette Dinner Train when it opens May 12th and go for a romantic hike in the woods to see some of NH's most striking waterfalls. Before the Cafe Lafayette opens, savor a dinner for two at La Vista Italian Cuisine and taste Seven Birches’ hand crafted wine after spending a luxurious day relaxing at the spa.
