Summer weather can be hot and rainy at times. Here are some ideas on staying cool in the White Mountains this summer.
While we’re often blessed with beautiful summer weather in Lincoln, sometimes Mother Nature has other plans. When the thermometer starts to climb, you’ll want to spend your time in air conditioning or splashing around in the pool. With the RiverWalk Resort, you can do both! Don’t let Mother Nature ruin your summer vacation.
On a hot or rainy day, head to BarnZ Cinema just across the RiverWalk Resort parking lot to enjoy the latest Hollywood blockbuster in air conditioning. The small four-screen theater is the perfect place to escape on a day you don’t want to be outside. With multiple showings a day, you’ll find a movie and a time that works for you. Grab some popcorn and a soda and enjoy an afternoon at the movies.
For a small mountain town, Lincoln has a lot to offer visitors and locals alike. Not many towns can boast they have an award-winning theater and playhouse in town. Operating since 1986, Jean’s Playhouse is home to several professional, community, and educational theater companies, like the Playhouse Players and IMPACT Children’s Theatre. This summer, you can catch The Hounds of the Baskervilles, Titanic the Musical, Cinderella, and more.
When the mercury is too high or the heavens have opened with afternoon downpours, book yourself an afternoon at Solstice North Day Spa inside the lobby of the RiverWalk Resort. The professional and friendly staff provide treatments and services from head to toes. Relax with a full body massage and a rejuvenating facial or add a little pop of color to your toes with a classic pedicure. Whatever you choose, you’ll leave feeling like a million bucks!
On a hot summer day, nothing feels better than a cannonball into a refreshing pool. The RiverWalk Resort is home to two swimming pools and hot tubs. The upper pool is an indoor/outdoor pool that allows you to enter the water without leaving the resort. At the end of the pool, you’ll find the 12-person crescent-shaped hot tub. The kid-friendly lagoon pool is popular with guests of all ages during the hot summer months. The pool is perfect for cooling off for the kiddos while you relax on the lounge chairs on the sun deck. No matter what pool you choose, you’ll have incredible views of the White Mountains and the Pemigewasset River. For even more fun, head to Whale’s Tale Waterpark.
Sometimes all you need is a little retail therapy. After checking out all the shops on Lincoln’s Main Street, hop in your car and drive the Kancamagus Highway over to New Hampshire’s shopping mecca - North Conway. Settlers Green and Settlers Crossing is home to over 75 of your favorite stores, like L.L. Bean, J. Crew, Nike, and more. It’s the perfect day to do all your back-to-school shopping tax-free. If you’re looking to stay closer to home, Littleton’s award-winning Main Street is home to lots of cute boutiques and shops to discover.
